Airtel offers 70GB data, voice calls for 70 days at Rs 448 to counter Jio’s Rs 399 plan

Airtel is leaving no stone unturned to counter Reliance Jio. The telecom giant has come up with several offers for its prepaid and postpaid customers to lead the telecom space, and to some extent has succeeded in doing so. In line with the same, Airtel now introduces a new Rs 448 plan for its prepaid customers. This new tariff plan directly counters Jio’s Rs 399 plan which was recently revamped.

On recharging with Airtel’s new Rs 448 plan, the prepaid customers will get 1GB of 3G and 4G data every day for a span of 70 days. This means that, much like Jio’s 399 plan, Airtel’s newly introduced Rs 448 plan offers 70GB of data for 70 days. However, on exceeding the 1GB data/day data limit, the internet speed is said to drop to 64 kbps. This was first reported by Telecom Talk.

Alongside the data offers, under the Rs 448 plan, Airtel prepaid users will also able to make voice calls both local and roaming to any other network. However, the calls, like Jio offers, are not unlimited. Under the Airtel Rs 448 plan customers will be able to make calls only for 250 minutes per day, and 1000 minutes every week. Once the customer exceeds the call limit, Airtel will charge 30 paise per minute. Apart from the data and voice calling facility, Airtel is also offering 100 messages every day.

This Rs 448 plan is available for select prepaid users only. So, before recharging with Airtel’s new plan, you should check with the customer service if this plan is available for your number or not. And if it is, you should head over to the MyAirtel app on your phone and recharge with Rs 448.

Airtel Rs 448 plan directly fights with Jio’s Rs 399 plan, which also offers 70GB of 4G data for 70 days. However, looks like Jio leads in other aspects like calling and SMS facility. Under the Rs 399 plan – available only for the prepaid users – Jio offers 70GB of data for 70 days along with unlimited voice calling and SMSes. This means, unlike Airtel, Jio offers unlimited voice calls – both local and roaming to any other network.

To recall, Jio’s Rs 399 plan has been revamped recently. Under this plan, Jio earlier offered 84GB for 84GB along with unlimited local and roaming calls to any networks and SMSes as well. Now, Jio offers the same service – 84GB of data for 84 days and unlimited voice calls at Rs 459.
