Light L16 camera with 16 lenses showcased
NEW DELHI: US-based startup Light has showcased its L16 camera, which is claimed to have the most number of lenses of any camera available out there. As seen in the press images, the L16 comes with as many as 16 lenses that can together generate images of up to 52MP resolution.
The company is calling the L16 as the ‘world’s first multi-aperture computational camera’. The device aims to deliver the same performance as that of DSLRs, but in a much more compact form factor.
The camera, which is the size of a smartphone, has six 150mm f/2.4 telephoto lenses, five 70mm f/2 midrange lenses and five 28mm f/2 wide-angle lenses, as reported by SLR Lounge website. The device also has a LED flash and laser autofocus for clicking precise shots.
The Light L16 is already sold out and the first batch is expected to start shipping from July 14 this year. The estimated price of the camera is $1699. It can also get direct OTA updates to get enhanced features like 5X optical zoom.
Talking about cameras, Sony is also trying its best to bring great video capturing experience to its smartphones. The company recently launched its Xperia XZ Premium and the Xperia XZs smartphones, both of which have the ability to capture HD videos at 960fps. Until now, only the ‘iPhones’ and the ‘Pixels’ of the world came with slow-motion video recording capability.
Sony’s new smartphones also have ‘Motion Eye’ technology with 5-axis digital stabilization and predictive capture.
